BC Adult Graduation Diploma

Earn a BC Adult Graduation Diploma (BCAGD) with a variety of courses offered both in-person and online. This diploma is also known as the Adult Dogwood. BCAGD is designed for adult learners (18 years of age and older) who need to take courses to complete their high school or obtain an adult high school diploma.

Education and Skills Training program

Education and Skills Training (ESTR) is a full-time, nine-month program designed for students with diverse abilities. It equips students with knowledge about future employment opportunities and specialized training. Choose from Kitchen Assistant certificate, Retail Assistant certificate or Career Exploration certificate. Students gain hands-on experience at the ESTR Market, a social enterprise selling local products, meals and snacks.

Department at a glance

We offer upgrading for Grade 10-12 equivalent courses in English, math, science and student success. These courses are offered in fall, winter and summer semesters.

Each student is supported by a dedicated program advisor and faculty member who provide guidance throughout the planning, application and registration processes, and help connect them with university-wide student services.

The ESTR program is an innovative high-impact program that provides students with hands-on learning both at TRU and in the community.

Our classes prepare students very well for the next steps in their educational journey. Many students graduating from baccalaureate degrees at TRU have taken one or more upgrading courses with our department.

The ESTR program is led by award-winning faculty with support from the community. Many students graduate from the ESTR program with employment prospects.

Thompson Rivers University has a variety of bursaries, awards and scholarships available to students. For students looking to upgrade their education, we recommend the Adult Upgrading Grant which is open to eligible BC residents. Students can also apply for UPrep and ESTR specific awards.
