Delivery Options

The Master in Environmental Economics and Management (MEEM) is offered through a flexible delivery model that allows students to complete the program either on campus in Kamloops or remotely from anywhere in Canada. This approach enables students and working professionals to learn together in real time, regardless of their location.

Now offering online completion options for MEEM.

On-campus and multi-access learning

All core MEEM ("ECON") courses are delivered through TRU's Multi-Access Learning (TRU Flex 7) model. Students may choose to attend classes in person on the Kamloops campus or participate remotely through live online instruction. Regardless of location, all students attend the same scheduled classes and engage with faculty and classmates as part of a single learning community.

Classes are typically scheduled in the afternoon and evening to accommodate both full-time students and working professionals. Small class sizes foster meaningful interaction, collaboration and engagement with faculty and peers.

The MEEM program begins each September, and core ECON courses are offered once per year.

Online completion options

Students can complete the MEEM degree entirely through distance learning, with no requirement to travel to campus. Core ECON courses are delivered synchronously through multi-access learning, allowing online students to participate in live classes alongside their on-campus peers.

Students may also choose elective courses offered through TRU's online learning format. Many "BUSN" electives, such as Project Management and Consulting, are available asynchronously, providing additional flexibility. Online learning (TRU Flex 10) are courses that follow a regular semester schedule with established start and end dates, assignment deadlines and other course requirements. While there are no scheduled class meetings, students remain part of a cohort and engage with course content, instructors and classmates through online learning technologies and collaborative activities.

Where required, proctored examinations can be completed remotely through approved online invigilation services.

Part-time study

Part-time study options are available for students who wish to balance graduate studies with professional or personal commitments.

Part-time students may select an individualized course load each semester, subject to course availability, and must complete all degree requirements within five years of beginning the program. Because core ECON courses are offered only once per year, careful academic planning is recommended to ensure timely progression through the program.

Students considering part-time studies are encouraged to work closely with the graduate program office to develop an academic plan that aligns with their goals and schedule.
