Become an SVPR Student Ambassador

Student Ambassador

The SVPR Office is hiring the next team of Student Ambassadors for the next academic year! (September 2025 – April 2026).

Applications are due March 28th by 4pm.

Are you passionate about the issue of sexualized violence on post-secondary campuses? Do you believe that everyone has role to play in creating a safer community? Do you have experience in public education and outreach? You might be just what we need at TRU, as one of SVPR’s Student Ambassadors.

About the Role

As Ambassadors, students on this team represent the SVPR Office, serving as a bridge between the program and students. Your role is to connect with students, provide information about the program’s services and initiatives, and help build community.

Please note: SVPR Ambassadors do not provide formal supports to survivors/victims of violence. This role is primarily focused on education and prevention work.

As an SVPR Student Ambassador, you'll have the exciting opportunity to:

  • Create Engagement Opportunities: SVPR Ambassadors are responsible for tabling, wagon-ing around campus on weather-appropriate days (with our very own Prize Wagon, chock full of prizes and snacks), and hosting pop-up events in various student service locations.
  • Support SVPR Events: Ambassadors may help coordinate educational movie nights in the Alumni Theatre, workshops in Residence or events associated with our annual Red Zone Campaign or Sexual Assault Awareness month.
  • Present Peer-to-Peer: Ambassadors may represent SVPR for short 15 minute presentations to various classrooms and cohorts across campus.
  • Network and Grow: Connect with fellow ambassadors, staff, and faculty to expand your network and gain valuable insights and mentorship.
  • Receive Recognition and Training: Benefit from training, ongoing mentorship, and recognition for your contributions to the TRU community.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment at TRU: Must be enrolled in courses in Fall and Winter semesters.
  • Academic Standing: Maintain a GPA of 2.50 or higher.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Subject Matter Knowledge: Must have demonstrated effort in acquiring knowledge on sexualized violence and/or related subject matter: consent, bystander intervention, healthy relationships.
  • Presentation and Public Engagement skills: Presentation and engagement skills are a requirement given the nature of activities Ambassadors are responsible for.

Benefits of Becoming an Ambassador

  • Honorarium: Ambassadors receive an honorarium twice each semester for their dedicated hours of work. Up to $1000 per semester!
  • Leadership Development: Gain valuable leadership skills and experiences to enrich your portfolio.
  • Networking Opportunities: Expand your network of friends and connections within the TRU community.
  • Make an Impact: Make a meaningful difference on campus and in the lives of prospective students.
